Develop an Attitude of Gratitude

Are you focusing more on what you don't have verses focusing on what you do have?  If so, I bet you are sinking further into the hole of have nots.  That's what the law of attraction predicts.

Turn it around and the law of attraction also predicts that the more you are grateful for what you do have, the more you will attract to be grateful for.  "When you are in a state of appreciation and gratitude, you are in a state of abundance, says Jim Rohn.

Be in a state of G-R-A-T-I-T-U-D-E:

G: Look for the GOOD in life, in your daily activities, and with the people around you.

R: RELISH each day with excitement and welcome the opportunities presented to you.

A: Keep a positive ATTITUDE.  Like attracts like, remember.

T: Take the TIME to appreciate.  Slow down and savor your "haves".

I:  Form the INTENT to be grateful when life knocks you off the balance beam.  What is it about your current situation that you can be grateful for?  There is something; discover it.

T: TELL others you appreciate them.  Do not keep silent.  Be creative in the ways you tell; appreciation goes beyond just words.

U: UNLEASH the power of appreciation.  It brings out the best in people.

D: DECIDE to be a grateful person.  Practice daily.

E: ENHANCE your relationships with gratitude.  People respond favorably when they feel appreciated.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow."

            Melodie Beattie

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.  Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us."

            Albert Schweitzer

"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it."

            William Arthur Ward

"Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation."

            Brian Tracy

Why is it that many of us give nary a thought to all the blessings we have (except at Thanksgiving) and in contrast, give way too much energy to thoughts of what we lack?  It happens to the best of us and I have gotten caught in that trap more than I would like to admit. It keeps you small, discouraged, and defeated, not a thriving position to be in.  I do form the intent these days to look at life with gratitude and open my arms (figuratively) to receive life's blessings.

I wish my readers a Happy Thanksgiving and abundance.  I'll be spending the holiday with family.  As my parents age, each holiday and each day become more precious.  Valerie is home from college for the week, and John is never far away inSt. Louis.

I am especially grateful that Rings around the Collar has arrived.  It is gratifying to hold the book in hand and see that my vision from eighteen months ago has now become a reality.   See it at www.ringsaroundthecollar.com

Jerseyville readers, save the date, Thursday, December 6 for the book signing at the Wellness Center, 4-7pm or stop by the Houseman Dental Office to purchase.

Have a fantastic week and develop an attitude of gratitude.

Stephanie
