Desire Power
How many times have you come up with an idea, a goal, or a wish, only to see it whither on the vine and die? It might take a week, a few months, or even longer, but eventually it loses its steam.
Why is that?
Could it be that you didn't really want it that bad? Oh, you thought you did, but as time went on, and you found that you had to step up to the plate to make it happen, the desire just wasn't there anymore. Perhaps you lost interest, it was too hard, you had to get out of your comfort zone and that was uncomfortable, you were lazy, you were afraid of failing, others talked you out of your idea; you name the reason.
Yes, life happens, your priorities change and what you once thought was a brilliant dream is now but a memory. What were you thinking, you ask yourself. Don't beat yourself up; we've all been there.
However, if you are to achieve what it is you really want, (and knowing what that is seems to be the key) then you must have desire and you must keep it burning. How else can you stay the course?
Desire is the first step in achieving something. "Everything we do is prompted by Desire in some shape or form, high or low.... Desire is the motive-power behind all action - it is a natural law of Life... Desire is the animating power, the energizing force, and the motive-power in, under, and behind all natural processes, activities and events," said a smart unknown person.
In his book, The Secret of the Ages, Robert Collier says:
"Very few persons, comparatively, know how to Desire with sufficient intensity and insistence. They content themselves with mere 'wishing' and mild 'wanting'. They fail to experience that Insistent Desire, which is one of the important elements of the Master Formula of Attainment. They do not know what it is to feel and manifest that intense, eager, longing, craving, insistent demanding, ravenous Desire which is akin to the persistent, insistent, ardent, overwhelming desire of the drowning man for a breath of air; of the ship-wrecked or desert-lost man for a drink of water; of the famished man for bread and meat; of the fierce, wild creature for its mate; of the mother for the welfare of her children. Yet if the truth were known, the desire for success of the men who have accomplished great things has often been as great as these."
How intense is your desire? What is one step you can take today to intensify that desire on your way to achieving what you want?
