| Its Time
Lost time is never found again, said Benjamin Franklin. You cant dig through the lost and found pile and hope you find your missing time. You can look forever, but this moment in time can never be captured again. Time stands still for no one, and that includes you. Makes you wonder what you keep putting off for another day.
When is it time:
to play - All work and no play is not an option for stressed, out of balance professionals. When is the last time you had free time or a vacation and cleared the decks of laptop, cell phone, and business chatter, and just played?
for a change - In a rut, out of sorts, down in the dumps, and life not working? Pick yourself up and forge a new path. If you keep on doing the same thing, you will get more of the same thing.
to quit procrastinating and just do it - How many uncompleted items are on your to-do list? Take one at a time and focus until each task is completed. Then tap into your new found energy.
to be with the people you care about - Weve all said it; Oh, Ill call tomorrow and set up a dinner date with the Smiths, or I really want to go see my ailing cousin across state, but I am so busy. I challenge you to schedule the time now to spend time with your loved ones and your friends.
to start exercising and eating healthy - New Years resolutions come only once a year; what about the rest of your life? Make small changes daily and you will see progress to a more vibrant you.
to delegate Tired of doing everything yourself because no one else can do it as well as you or you feel you have to be in charge? Thats a sure-fire route to burn-out. Let go and lighten your life; train others to carry some of the load.
to cut up your credit cards How many do you really need?
to stand up for yourself Doormats are for wiping feet; they are not a way of life. Stand up for what you believe in and that means standing up for you also!
to listen - Are you too busy talking that you are missing out on forming a real connection with people? Develop the art of listening.
to learn Knowledge keeps your mind active and encourages growth.
to slow down Being busy 24/7 only adds to the stress in your life. Drop one not so meaningful activity from your schedule. You wont miss it and do not fill the slot with another time waster.
for you! We all need personal time to let the dust settle, reflect, meditate, and just be.
Theres no better time than now. What is it time for you to do?

This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Time is our most valuable asset, yet we tend to waste it, kill it, and spend it rather than invest it.
Jim Rohn
Until you value yourself, you will not value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.
M. Scott Peck
Dont let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.
Earl Nightingale

| Its time for my daughter to go back to school. Thats what started this whole train of thought as I was making her breakfast the other day and we were bickering over coffee. Actually, it has been a great 3 ½ summer months, but its time now. She is ready to see her college friends again, her job is over, and nightlife in Jerseyville is just not the same as it is in Tampa, FL and Ybor City. So we leave in a few weeks to take her back to U. of Tampa and to spend a few days at the beach. We get to play.
It is time for me to call friends to get together, to delegate more (its that dentist perfectionist trait that makes that so difficult), and to finish some tasks I started months ago. I am great at getting a job to ¾ complete and then I move on to something else, all the time having those incompletes clutter my mind and drain my energy. I eventually get around to completing them, but it is later rather than sooner. I find that deadlines work real well for me since I often struggle with procrastination. John and I have talked about visiting his ailing aunt for months now, but we still havent made the trip. Its also time to call the contractor and finalize plans for our house remodel that weve been designing for eight months now. Our antiquated kitchen and bathrooms really need an overhaul, as does my home office. The time has come for this vision to become a reality.
I am not waiting anymore. Its time. |
