Decide Already!

Coke or Pepsi?  The beach or the mountains?  Coffee or tea? Go back to school or stay in a dead-end job?  Get married, get divorced, stay single? Find a new career?

Keep on going or give up?

Some decisions are easy, some not so easy.

Yet no one can deny that you can change your life with one decision.

"Everything that happens in your life - both what you're thrilled with and what you're challenged by - began with a decision.  I believe that it's in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped....I believe it's our decisions, not the conditions of our lives, that determine our destiny," said Anthony Robbins.

Are you ready to harness the power of a decision?

Follow these tips from Robbins:

1.  Remember the true power of making decisions.  It's a tool you can use in any moment to change your entire life.  The minute you make a new decision, you set in motion a new cause, effect, direction, and destination for your life.  You literally begin to change your life the moment you make a new decision. ... Remember, a real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken new action.  If there's no action, you haven't truly decided.

2.  Realize that the hardest step in achieving anything is making a true commitment - a true decision.  Don't labor forever over the question of how or if you can do it.  Studies have shown that the most successful people make decisions rapidly because they are clear on their values and what they really want for their lives.  The same studies show that they are slow to change their decisions, if at all.  On the other hand, people who fail usually make decisions slowly and change their minds quickly, always bouncing back and forth.  Just decide!

3.  Make decisions often.  The more decisions you make, the better you're going to become at making them.... You won't believe the energy and excitement it will create in your life!

4.  Learn from your decisions.  When you fail, ask yourself, "What's good about this? What can I learn from this?"  This "failure" may be an unbelievable gift in disguise if you use it to make better decisions in the future.

5.  Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.  It's the end you're after.  Don't become rigid in your approach.  Cultivate the art of flexibility.

6.  Enjoy making decisions.  You must know that in any given moment a decision you make can change the course of your life forever....  that one single thing that causes the floodgates to open, and all of the things that you've been waiting for to fall into place.

Stop your indecision and decide already because that decision has the power to change your life!

"It doesn't matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes.  What matters most is getting off.  You cannot make progress without making decisions."

            Jim Rohn

"When you have to make a choice and you don't make it, that itself is a choice."

            William James

"Indecision is debilitating; it feeds upon itself; it is, one might almost say, habit-forming.  Not only that, but it is contagious; it transmits itself to others."

            H.A. Hopf

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing."

            Theodore Roosevelt

One trait consistently shows up in all the personality tests I've ever taken, and that is that I need time to make decisions.  I don't like to be rushed and I like to have the facts.  Oh yes, and that I am cautious.  I also like time alone to think creatively and figure things out.  Well, how's that for decision making?  It might take me just a tad bit longer to make a decision, but I will make one.

Understanding your decision making style and then following the tips above from Mr. Robbins will help you face your decisions from a position of strength, rather than weakness.

Have a fantastic week, and decide already!
