Wow! is Your Ticket to Success
Wow! separates the extraordinary from the ordinary.
Wow! is the full measure of your personal power, and the way you use it.
Wow! is the ticket to success. Your ticket.
So says Jeffrey Gitomer in his book, Customer Satisfaction is Worthless.
When you look closely, the Wow! traits are applicable for both business and personal success.
The question then becomes: How can you Wow!?
Below are a few of the Wow! traits, according to Gitomer:
Friendly. Be happy on the inside and you will project Wow! on the outside. Start with friendly words and actions.
Helpful. Take an active role in helping. Have you ever been to Whole Foods, asked an employee where the pickled beets are, and they walk you to the exact spot and pull it off the shelf for you? Have you ever told your patient that you will be happy to look up that insurance information for them? That's being helpful.
Best. Take personal pride in being your best at all times.
Truthful. Customers want the truth as you do. Don't hide from it.
Enthusiastic. To get more enthusiastic, study it, read about positive attitude for 15 minutes a day. Also, hang around enthusiastic people. Gitomer says the best part of enthusiasm is that it is contagious. Can you imagine the Wow! in a room full of enthusiastic people!
Courageous. Take a chance and be willing to make mistakes.
Memorable. To separate yourself from your competition and everyone else, you must take memorable actions. Have creative, new ideas. Do something no one else is doing.
(That's a great topic of discussion for a team meeting.)
Understanding/Patient. Take time to listen. Be empathetic with the situations of others.
Confident in what you say and the way you act. Be confident and you will gain confidence. Build rapport first and keep building it. Act and speak as though all is well, and all is YES.
Gitomer is right on when he states: "You must be a positive, enthusiastic, focused, polished, and genuine person from WITHIN before you can ever show it, or be it, to others. You must be outstanding enough on the inside to be memorable on the outside."
How is your Wow!? Rate yourself, your team, co-workers, and even the businesses you patronize. What can you do to increase your Wow!?
