 Pitch the Mental Clutter

I touched nerves the other week with several of my readers when I wrote about clutter.  They felt I was speaking to them.  I was, just as I was speaking to myself.  I've been brutal in clearing the clutter, especially in my closet.  I pitched everything that did not fit well, clothes with colors that did nothing for me, and stuff that I just didn't like anymore.  Yes, I know - I bought them in the first place.

Honestly, isn't that what you do with your mental clutter?  You buy it all, from outside sources like parents, friends, colleagues, etc. not to mention all the clutter you tell yourself.  "I'm not smart enough, I'm lazy, I'm afraid, that will never happen to me," and the list goes on and on.  Your mental space can be as cluttered as your surroundings, and with the same pitfalls.

Your subconscious is in charge of your mental space (thoughts). Garbage in equals garbage out.  Negativity breeds more negativity.  For many of you, it is second nature to listen to those voices which are pulling you away from living the life you want.

"I [your subconscious] cooperate when you tell me that you are "this" or "that" and I play it back as you give it.  I am most agreeable.  Since I do not think, argue, judge, analyze, question, or make decisions, I accept impressions easily," said Margaret E. White.

You might think your thoughts are working for you, but sooner or later you will find that many become stale and serve no purpose.  Yet, you are slow to pitch.  You blame others or circumstances for that which is not working in your life.  Stop making excuses.  How would your life be different if you turned the tables on yourself and looked inward?

You must pitch the mental clutter in addition to pitching the physical clutter.  Mentally place a "keep out" sign for the disempowering thoughts.  Then, roll out the welcome mat for the empowering ones. Only then will you be able to move closer to living a life of fulfillment and balance.

You can do it.  Your subconscious is begging you to.  "I [your subconscious] am going to ask you to sort out what you send me, however, my files are getting a little cluttered and confused.  I mean, please discard those things that you do not want returned to you," continued White.

Be brutal in what you discard.  Get rid of it all - all that does not suit you anymore.  All that you do not want crowding your mental space.  All that is leading you down the path of disillusionment.

You are responsible for your thoughts.  You are in charge.  You know that.  I've written about it numerous times.  Your subconscious is listening and filing away everything you say to yourself.  So you might as well make it positive and empowering.

"Your subconscious mind does not argue with you.  It accepts what your conscious mind decrees.  If you say, 'I can't afford it,' your subconscious mind works to make it true.  Select a better thought. Decree, 'I'll buy it.  I accept it in my mind.'"

            Dr. Joseph Murphy

"Any thought that is passed on to the subconscious often enough and convincingly enough is finally accepted."

            Robert Collier

"It is a psychological law that whatever we wish to accomplish we must impress on the subjective or subconscious mind."

            Orison Swett Marden

"Our subconscious minds have no sense of humor, play no jokes and cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image.  What we continually think about eventually will manifest in our lives."

            Sidney Madwed

JohnandJohnG had a harrowing experience on the last rapids of their white water trip inColoradothe other week.  Needless to say, I don't think they will be going white water rafting any time soon.  It was not the trip for me.  I much prefer the beach and this past week found me, my sister, and my mom on the beach inFlorida.  No rapids in the gulf, just gentle waves.  I loved every minute of it.  Plus, we were close enough toTampaso Valerie was able to spend some time with us.

Have a fantastic week and pitch the mental clutter.

Stephanie
