10 Essential Questions

Life is about the choices and decisions you make on a daily basis, so what better way to move forward than to ask the right questions.  What if there were 10 questions you could ask yourself every day whose answers would lead you to making better choices and decisions?  In turn, you would be well on the way to leading the life that you want.  Debbie Ford has the questions. She is the author of The Right Questions, Ten Essential Questions to Guide You to an Extraordinary Life.

How would you answer the 10 questions?

1. Will this choice propel me toward an inspiring future or will it keep me stuck in the past?
2. Will this choice bring me long-term fulfillment or will it bring me short-term gratification?
3. Am I standing in my power or am I trying to please another?
4. Am I looking for what’s right or am I looking for what’s wrong?
5. Will this choice add to my life force or will it rob me of my energy?
6. Will I use this situation as a catalyst to grow and evolve or will I use it to beat myself up?
7. Does this choice empower me or does it disempower me?
8. Is this an act of self-love or is it an act of sabotage?
9. Is this an act of faith or is it an act of fear?
10. Am I choosing from my divinity or am I choosing from my humanity?

These are tough questions to ask yourself on a daily basis.  Use them as your guide to better decision making as you become more aware of what your choices are saying about you and where they are leading you.  Answer each question honestly and you will have the “right” answers.

Whenever I am stuck in line at the grocery store I’ll pick up a gossip magazine and thumb through to pass the time.  I am always reminded of the saying “inquiring minds want to know”.   OR, do they?  I can ask all the questions I want but I know I must be honest with my answers if I am going to effect change in my life.  The 10 questions above are powerful.  Am I standing in my power or am I trying to please another? – a tough one for a reformed people pleaser.  Will I use this as a catalyst to grow and evolve or will I use it to beat myself up? – I’m well on my way to learning from my challenges and not belaboring the wrong.  A tough one on occasion for myself and often with my children – Will this choice bring me long-term fulfillment or will it bring me short-term gratification?

I will be answering the question “What are the benefits of joining the American Association of Women Dentists?” (www.aawd.org) when I visit with women dentists in the Cincinnati, OH area this week.  This event is sponsored by Sullivan Schein Dental Company.  Then I am off to Phoenix, AZ to attend Linda Miles’ Speaking Consulting Network for the dental professional (www.speakingconsultingnetwork.com).  My inquiring mind will be soaking up the experience.

The Balance Beam will return on May 30.

Have a great week and ask the right questions.

Stephanie
