 Keeping Your Dream Alive

She followed her dream all the way to Britains Got Talent, and then became an overnight sensation.  Who is she?

Susan Boyle.  The person everybody is watching, listening to, and talking about. The person who will now have her chance to live her dream of being a professional singer.  The chance she has been waiting for all of her adult life. That time is now.

Just in case you've been away from any type of media the last week, here is the video of Susan's performance.

What is it about Susan that makes her so likeable and such a treat to watch - besides her talent, that is?  What can we learn from her that will encourage each of us to follow our own dreams?

There was no hesitation when she was asked what her dream was.  "I want to be a professional singer, as successful as Elaine Paige," she said.  Clear, succinct, and to the point!

You must have that smile and that spark that says, "I am passionate about my talents and my dream."

You exude confidence, excitement, and spunk in all that you do.

You must believe in you!  You have the power within to make your dreams come true and anything is possible.  Your chance will come.

You have to get yourself out there.  When you want something badly enough it won't matter that you have to stand in line for hours to audition.

Never give up.  Keep the faith.

Do not allow others to discourage you or lead you astray.  When you have the passion and the talent, your dream must stay alive.

Susan even has a mentor, albeit a silent one.  She wants to be as successful as Elaine Paige.  Do you have a mentor?

Never judge a book by its cover.  We all know that, but we still do it.

Lastly, and most importantly for me, be authentic.  Be who you are and never apologize for it.  Therein is the beauty I see in Susan Boyle.

The world's stage is opening for Susan.  Which stage will open for you when you keep your dream alive?

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

            Eleanor Roosevelt

"Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul; the blue prints of your ultimate achievements."

            Napoleon Hill

"We grow great by dreams.  All big men are dreamers.  They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening.  Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true."

            Woodrow Wilson

I get goose bumps every time I watch Susan's video.  I find it so inspirational. Dreams are alive, yes indeed.  Know what your dream is and go after it.  The sunshine and light will come to you.

Have a fantastic week and keep your dream alive.

Stephanie

P.S.  Another performance from Britains Got Talent that caught my attention was the Greek Dance.  I'm Greek, what can I say?  Watch it here.  It is hilarious!
