Ten Ways To Fire Up Your Attitude

Got attitude?  It can make or break you, depending on what kind you have.  By that, I mean how is your attitude - positive or negative?  Are you a glass half full or half empty person?

Attitude is defined as a way of looking at life, a way of thinking, feeling, and behaving.  It is a better predictor of your success than your IQ, education, and most other factors.  Research by Dr. Martin Seligman, the authentic happiness guru, has shown that positive people make more money, stay healthier, have more meaningful relationships with others, and advance further in their careers.

Sounds like a positive attitude is the one to have.  Is it possible?

"The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are all in charge of our attitudes!" (Chuck Swindoll)

How can you fire up your attitude?

  1. Make it your responsibility to have a positive attitude. Don't settle for less.

  2. Remove your limiting beliefs which keep you locked in negativity and block your way to success.  These are the voices in your head that spew their negativity into your thoughts and subsequently your life.  Create a turn around empowering belief for every negative belief you have.  For example:

Limiting Belief: I am fat.  I've tried many diets, but nothing works.  I give up. I'm just destined to be overweight.

Challenge this Belief:  I don't have to remain fat all my life.  Others have lost weight so there's no reason I can't also.

Empowering Belief:  I am teaming up with a nutritionist and a trainer and I can lose twenty pounds.

Take Action:  Begin the steps to make this new empowering belief a reality.  Just do it!

  1. Change your inner critic into a cheerleader.  Cheer each action step you take.

  2. Be passionate about what you are doing.  If you enjoy your career, job, friends, hobbies, etc., you will see the glass as half full.

  3. Laugh often and find the humor in your life.

  4. Smile.  A smile on the outside translates to a smile on the inside.

  5. Sleep well.  Eat well.  Exercise.  A strong body keeps your attitude positive.

  6. Associate with positive people.  Avoid the grouches.  You don't need them.

  7. Be in the moment.  Leave the past behind and stop worrying about tomorrow.

  8. View failure as a learning experience.  Make lemonade out of lemons.

Triumph over negativity in your life by taking charge of your attitude.  A positive attitude will bring abundance into your life and shape your todays and your tomorrows.  Don't leave home without it.

"Your mental attitude is something you can control outright and you must use self-discipline until you create a Positive Mental Attitude - your mental attitude attracts to you everything that makes you what you are."

            Napoleon Hill

"You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you."

Brain Tracy

"Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it."
            Lou Holtz

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude."
            Thomas Jefferson

There have been times in the past when I've left home without a positive attitude. It didn't make for a pleasant or a productive day.  Furthermore, when I started the day with a negative frame of mind, I infected others around me, and that included family and team members at the office.   Not good.

How better to start the day upbeat and with a song in my heart. That's the kind of cheer I want to spread. I still fall off the balance beam on occasion, but I make a conscious effort to keep my thoughts positive.   I try to make lemonade out of lemons as I come to terms with my disappointments and outright failures.   I know that what I bring to the table comes back to me tenfold.

What's more, when I stand in my own power and radiate positive vibes I create my health and happiness.

Have a fantastic week and don't leave home without your positive attitude.

Stephanie
