Who is Coming to Your Rescue?
Do you want to be rescued from your less than fulfilling/successful life? Are you tempted to jump on the bailout bandwagon?
Not so fast. Looking outside yourself for life support won't get you very far. No one is likely coming to your rescue on a white horse with success on a silver platter, ready to hand over to you. Yet, you continue to wait. What is the allure of a bailout?
- You are unable to accept personal responsibility for your own actions and fail to realize that you have created your own circumstances. You are quick to blame others, so naturally it is always someone else who should "fix" the problems.
- You've failed so many times in your quest for a more fulfilling life and don't want to risk another failure, so you wait to be rescued to taste success.
- Lazy people look for the easy way out. You feel it's easier to be rescued than actually do what you need to do to achieve success. You are allergic to work and discipline.
- You fall prey to the "quick-fix" scheme of outsiders. You are too impatient or don't want to put the time into creating your own circumstances which will lead you to triumph.
- You have lost hope and faith in your abilities to create success. You give up short of your goal and put your fate in the hands of others or in some outside force.
There are times when a rescue is in order and one must reach out to take the life preserver. Go for it. However, when wanting to be rescued consumes your every thought, and your hand remains outstretched, consider the downside of accepting bailouts:
- You are robbed of the sense of accomplishment you receive when you know you have done your best in your quest for the best.
- You remain small and never see the benefits of reaching within and stretching yourself to achieve greatness.
- You become obligated to those who bail you out. That is not a position of strength.
- You waste so much time wishing and hoping for someone to come to your rescue and fail to realize that time spent on furthering your personal growth is priceless.
- Furthermore, you remain stuck in a place of defeat and become one of the "have-nots". Is this where you want to be?
You must realize that up to this present moment, it is you who have created your life circumstances, and no one else. Success will remain elusive until you accept this reality. When you do, then you will also understand that what happens from now on is also your doing. You are responsible for your rescue plan. You are responsible for your success.
Be honest and define what in your life needs a rescue. Set forth an action plan that will lead you to your desired outcome. Then, work the plan. You can do it!
"You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of," says motivational speaker Jim Rohn. You have the power to create the life you want so use that power to your advantage.
Who is coming to your rescue? It has to be you!
