How to Lead a Life Uncommon
"No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from," sang Jewel.
Wise words. We all know that we get what we focus on. If you constantly focus on what you wish to be free from, you will continue to get MORE of what you want to be free from!
Think about it. If you want to be free from a failed relationship and all you can focus on is what went wrong, or who you can blame for its failure, or how you were wronged, or how anyone else could love you, and so on, you will never be free to move on.
Likewise, if you think you will never be able to have your dream job, then you will continue to stay in your dead-end job and complain endlessly. You will not have the strength to focus on the steps necessary to realize your dream.
Or, if your strength is centered on never being able to retire because you don't have much money saved, and you continue to lend your strength to that mindset, you won't retire. You will find it difficult to curtail your spending and/or borrowing, because, after all, what's the use?
Does debt have you spiraling down? Lend your strength instead to ways that will turn your situation around. Get help if necessary to formulate a plan and then stick with it to get out of debt.
Are you still blaming yourself for something that happened years ago? It was your fault, after all, wasn't it? Forgive yourself today so that you can set yourself free. Lighten your load.
What are you lending your strength to? Does it have a stranglehold on you? Stop lending your strength to the negative! Do something, take one action step, or think one thought, that will lead you out of this place. One action. That is all it takes to begin to release your grip.
Make the conscious decision today to no longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from. You will then find that you have cleared a space to invite the new into your life, and you will lead a life uncommon.
