3 Ordinary Folks with 3 Dreams on Center Stage

Turn your speakers on high and settle in for a heartwarming, uplifting, moving, and emotional peek into the dreams of three ordinary folks in Great Britain.  They appeared on television in Britain's Got Talent on June 13 and their videos hit the internet.

Meet Connie, a six year old with no front teeth.  When asked by the judges what she does, she nodded that "I'm a singer."  Yes, she is a singer and she is 6 years old!  You're never too young or too old to pursue your dream.  So, what are you waiting for?

Meet Paul Potts, a mobile phone salesman from South Wales.  He works his day job, but he has a secret passion - to sing opera.  "My dream is to spend my life doing what I feel that I was born to do."  Yet, he lacks confidence.  "Confidence has always been a difficult thing for me.  I've always found it difficult to be completely confident with myself," he said.

Yes, confidence can be a huge stumbling block on the way to our dreams.  Paul is an opera singer; no doubt about it, yet he must believe also.  He is so humble. There is not an ounce of ego in his bones, and that makes him even more likeable.  "I think we have a little lump of coal here that is going to turn into a diamond," said judge Amanda.

Meet Craig, the baton twirler who chose NOT to tell his parents he was pursuing his twirling.  Why?  "They tried to tell me to stop because they thought I'd get bullied at school.  They were looking out for me," he said.  Oh, really?  Thankfully, Grandma was there to support him; she understands his dream.

When asked how he felt when he was up on stage twirling the baton, Craig said that he's in a world all his own and he loves it.  Isn't that how you feel when you're doing something you love and pursuing your dream?

What's more, judge Simon Cowell declared the young man had the "likeability factor".  I could not agree more, and doesn't that make you want to root for him even more?

3 ordinary folks and their dreams.  Not so different from many of us, are they?  Ignite the fire and the passion that live within you and proclaim your dream.  You can do it.  There is no better time than NOW.  Go ahead and take center stage.

"Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it.  Boldness has genius and power and magic in it."

            Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."

            Mark Twain

"If you can dream it, you can do it."

            Walt Disney

There must have been a little voice in my head the other day telling me to click on these videos.  I listened, and wow!  I had goose bumps the rest of the day, and I still get shivers when I listen to Paul's opera.  I feel as though they were all "speaking" to me.  "Follow your dreams Stephanie, be confident, and surround yourself with those who believe in you.  Be passionate and lose yourself in the dream." Those are empowering words for me.

I'm a sucker for a good heartwarming story, especially of the underdogs rising to the top.  Those stories are highly motivating for me, for if they can do it, so can I.  Besides which, I get so tired of hearing all the negativity in the news.  Bring on the uplifting messages.

Have a fantastic week and follow your dreams.

Stephanie

P.S. Welcome to my new readers the past few months, some from far away places - India, South Africa, Viet Nam, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, and not so far away Canada.  The balance message is spreading across the globe!

P.P.S.  In case I don't see any more videos from Britain's Got Talent on the internet, will my UK readers please keep me up to date on the happenings?  I'd really appreciate it!  Will Paul win?  Stay tuned.
