Become the Best at What You Do

Do you ever hear that critical voice that says: "You can do better than that."?

Chances are it is a voice from the past that just keeps on giving.

You can silence that voice by following the tips below to become the best at what you do.

  1. Have a vision and a plan to get there.  See in your mind's eye where you want to be and plan your action.  "Begin with the end in mind," said Stephen Covey.  Scatter-brained action and a foggy vision will keep you from your best.
  2. Be present.  Focus on the now.  Stop worrying about what happened yesterday (you can't change it) and focus on what you are doing today that will make a brighter tomorrow.
  3. Have the attitude of best.  Be optimistic, a glass half-full person.  Believe that you have what it takes to be the best at what you do.  Stand in your confidence.
  4. Make no excuses.  Take personal responsibility for your actions.  Bounce back from your mistakes and keep moving forward.  Results will follow.
  5. Clear your clutter, physical and mental.  Give yourself space to do your best and remove those limiting beliefs that keep you stuck.    Use your time wisely to prioritize and then execute for results.
  6. Always be learning.  Personal growth will take you to your next best level and enhance the results you achieve.
  7. Surround yourself with like-minded people who want to become the best at what they do.  Learn from one another.
  8. Adopt healthy habits.  Exercise, reduce your junk food, eat your fruits and vegetables, be smoke-free, etc.  Additionally, remove any trace of procrastination, blame, and laziness from your life.
  9. Help others become the best at what they do and you, in turn, will become the best at what you do.
  10. Dare to dream what the best is that you can do!

The next time that "you can do better" voice speaks loud and clear, answer back that you are taking the steps to become the best at what you do.

"Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs.  Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger.  If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves."

            Dale Carnegie

"Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment."

            Oprah Winfrey

"The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today."

            H. Jackson Browne, Jr.

"When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life, or in the life of another."

            Helen Keller

I've been AWOL for a few weeks.  Writer's block and a painful left foot which required me to wear a walking boot for awhile left me down and out.  I couldn't exercise (except for using a few weights) and I spent way too much time sitting around feeling blah.  Well, my foot still aches but I went back to the gym today anyway and wow, what a difference in attitude that made.  My pen is back also.

It happens.  Life throws you a curveball and you get out of sorts.  Until you wake up one day and say, OK, that is ENOUGH.  Move on.  That's what I'm doing.

Share your thoughts with me.  I'd love to hear from you.

Have a fantastic week and become the best at what you do.

Stephanie
